Traditional Chinese Medicine
For 5,000 years, Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) has been a method of healing the body using acupuncture, herbs, and massage. It is based on the Yin and Yang and the balance specific to your body.
How does Chinese acupuncture work?
When your natural balances become abnormal, illness and problems may occur. In the body, there are non-visible channels flowing that are full of Qi, an energy. Along these channels exist points where the Qi collects, and each point on each channel possesses the potential to alter the flow of the Qi, thereby rebalancing the Yin and Yang. This imbalance may cause a deficiency or excess of Qi. The imbalances show up as symptoms, and further evaluation may allow a skilled practitioner of TCM to find the root of the imbalance and formulate a combination of acupoints that will help restore the balance
How does Chinese cupping work?
Cupping is used in opening up the meridians in the body, which are the channels through which energy flows in the body. Traditional cupping uses heat to get results, and now a new method uses a cold suction technique. Modern cupping techniques use glass or plastic cups that use a one-way valve. The cups are placed on the body as pumps draw air out through the valves, and the glass cups allow the acupuncturist to determine the force of the suction. By leaving the cup in place for a few minutes, a blood stasis is formed and healing is localized to that area.
